Hi, I’m Sophie — the baker behind Silver Birch Bakery, where everything is handmade, fresh to order, and created with care.

​

What started as a passion for baking in my Nana's kitchen as a child has grown into a small business with a big heart. I specialise in cakes for all of life’s celebrations — birthdays, weddings, baby showers, anniversaries and everything in between. Alongside show-stopping cakes, I also create delicious cheesecakes, cookies, brownies, and all kinds of sweet bakes to brighten your day.

Every order is made from scratch, tailored to your needs — including options for gluten-free, dairy-free, and other dietary requirements.

 

Whether it’s a custom cake for a special event or a box of indulgent brownies “just because,” my aim is to bring a personal touch to every bake.

Based in Boulton Moor, Derby, I’m proud to serve my local community and hope to become your go-to person for all things sweet. As the business grows, I dream of saying goodbye to corporate life — creating more treats, meeting more lovely customers, and being part of more special moments.

The first real cake I ever made was for my 18th birthday, with the help from my Nana who was the catalyst for all of this.  I had no idea what I was really doing, but knew how to make a good sponge, so how hard could it be to throw some icing on it? It turns out, very. I was so proud of it at the time, but now I find it so cringeworthy.

Over the years I've learned a lot, but one thing I know is that I get such joy from people enjoying the treats I make. There's nothing better than when someone asks for another slice of my cake. Plus it's no good eating a whole cake to yourself just because you want to try a new recipe.
